Peter has appeared on hundreds of occasions particularly between 1980 and 2000 in the District Court on a huge variety of matters. These appearances would have included somewhere over 150 District Court jury trials. Since July 2000 appearances in the District Court have been limited and have included the occasional criminal defence and appearances in relation to the District Court’s jurisdiction to hear appeals from bodies such as the Medical Council. Examples would be appearing for the Medical Council in the registration appeal of Vasan v Medical Council of New Zealand (unreported McIntosh DCJ District Court Wellington 12/8/03 CIV 2003-085-259) and in Spackman v Medical Council of New Zealand (unreported, Hubble DCJ, District Court Auckland NP 3152/02) which was a competence review appeal.
